• 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 5-6 Cardamon pods or 10-12 Cardamon seeds
  • 5-7 whole Cloves
  • 6-10 Peppercorns
  • 1 inch fresh Ginger, peeled and sliced
  • Black tea- 2-4 teabags or 1-3 tablespoons of loose tea leaves
  • 2 tablespoons (more or less to taste) sweetener of choice
  • 1 cup milk of choice

Additional Add-ins:

  • Fresh Turmeric Root
  • Orange Peel
  • Lemon Peel
  • Chaga Mushroom Chunk (Don’t forget to save your Chaga piece and reuse!)

Important: This Chai recipe is extremely good! You may find yourself buying ingredients in bulk.


Place Cinnamon, Cardamom , Cloves, Peppercorns, Ginger, and add-ins of choice into a small pot.

Add 3 cups of water. Bring to boil.

Cover and reduce heat to simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove from heat.

Steep for 10-15 minutes.

Return pot to heat and bring to boil.

Remove from heat, add Black tea, and cover.

Steep for 3-5 minutes.

Strain into jar or teapot using a fine mesh strainer, discard spices and teabags/leaves.

Add sweetener of choice, stir to dissolve. (I use 2-4 tablespoons of honey or 2 tablespoons of brown sugar.

Add Milk of choice and swirl with spoon.

Serve in your favorite mug or teacup.


Store in sealed container in fridge and reheat a cup on demand.

I like a quart jar of this delicious Chai in my fridge, at all times. We make it in the morning and take time for tea throughout our day. We enjoy drinking our tea out of fancy, little teacups with saucers. The small cups remind us to savor each sip. The pattern on the china bring beauty into the moment. The sound of setting the cup gently back on the saucer heightens our experience,┬álike a bell during meditation. The dainty feeling of the cup handle, entwined within our fingers, whisper about the delicate balance of life. Saucer in one hand, teacup in the other…. Pure Bliss!
