These are one of our favorites lately! The kids love having “ice cream” for breakfast and I love having them eat healthy. They are super easy to make, the kids can make them with just a little supervision (usually just a gentle reminder to clean the blender, ha! ha!).

Smoothie Bowls

This recipe yields about 4 servings.

  • 4 Frozen Bananas
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. Honey
  • 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon (optional)
  • 3/4 cup of either milk, milk alternative, or juice
  • Add-ins of choice: Strawberries, Mango, and other fresh fruit, Carob or Chocolate chips, Granola, dried fruit, nuts and seeds…. Be Creative!!!

To make “Banana Ice Cream”, place frozen bananas¬†into blender with vanilla, honey, milk or juice choice, and cinnamon (optional). We like to add a few strawberries or carob chips also.

We generally use Coconut milk. However, today we used Pineapple juice and it was delicious!!!

Blend until smooth.

Pour into bowls and top with your favorite toppings! Be creative. Try using different fruits that are in season (They will be sweeter and cheaper.). Strawberries, plums, mango, grapes, and even melons are good.

We love using granola. Lightly salted sunflower seeds add a nice salty tidbit throughout.  The kids love adding carob chips to the top. I like coconut in mine!

Each Smoothie Bowl can be unique! Like the person who is going to enjoy it. Smoothie Bowls make a great breakfast, snack, or even dessert!
